BTS Joins GSMA Open Gateway to Accelerate Standardized API Services in Mobile Identity and Secure Digital Services

BTS has joined the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, expanding its impact as a leader in programmable network services, particularly in mobile identity, fraud prevention, and network orchestration.
The GSMA Open Gateway is a global framework that standardizes the way operator network APIs are exposed and consumed, with 73 operator groups across 285 networks—representing nearly 80% of global mobile subscribers. It’s now entering a new phase, transitioning from adoption to monetization, offering APIs for SIM swap detection, device location, quality-on-demand, edge compute, and more.
BTS’ entry into Open Gateway reflects a strategic focus on identity-centric APIs, including SIM Swap, Number Verification, and Know Your Customer (KYC) use cases. With over 6 million API requests handled daily, BTS brings proven infrastructure, scale, and deep expertise to help accelerate the initiative’s commercial rollout.
In 2023, GSMA launched Open Gateway as a global standardization effort built on the CAMARA open-source project, co-developed with the Linux Foundation. CAMARA provides the reference architecture for developer-friendly, harmonized APIs, enabling seamless integration across operators. Collaboration with hyperscalers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud has further extended the reach and utility of these APIs.
This move positions BTS as a network-agnostic orchestrator, providing a standardized API framework to rapidly deploy services with seamless, consistent integration across operators. This extends BTS in-house advanced solutions for biometrics, voice analytics, fraud prevention, and QoE monitoring
Why it matters:
- Identity-first innovation: BTS will prioritize rollout of GSMA Open Gateway APIs related to Mobile ID, enabling scalable and secure services such as SIM swap detection, number verification, and KYC across operator networks.
- Scale meets monetization: With 6M+ daily API calls, BTS’s infrastructure is already optimized for large-scale delivery, offering immediate contribution to Open Gateway’s commercial viability.
- Interoperability over fragmentation: BTS’s participation reinforces GSMA’s goal to avoid fragmented API deployments and promote a harmonized framework that enables seamless global services.
- Future-ready orchestration: As Open Gateway expands into verticals like automotive, finance, and travel, BTS is well-positioned to integrate APIs into multi-industry digital experiences.
For developers and enterprises, this means faster integration, broader reach, and scalable trust services without operator-by-operator customization.
This membership strengthens BTS’ commitment to driving the next era of programmable communications—where mobile networks enable real-time, trusted services across global ecosystems.
